Drakensberg – July 2017

13 July 2017| ,

July Winter holidays are tricky for us – they are a month long but being mid-year, the days can be chilly and we don’t often go away. MC also doesn’t often take time off during July as we save it for Easter or Christmas holidays. But this year, we decided to try and escape for a few days into the Drakensberg mountains (and brave the cold!). Without any hesitation, we booked into our favorite spot Champagne Sports Resort. If you’ve been following for a while, you will know that we have an annual week of timeshare at this resort every December. But Decembers are our hot Summer months and we stay in our self-catering chalet so it’s a very different getaway.

This time, we decided to stay in the hotel to make it easier and more cost-effective so we booked into the family suite – with SJ and EN sharing the second bedroom and ZB sleeping in her bassinet next to us. This also meant enjoying the hotel’s delicious buffet every morning and evening (although not for me while I stay motivated and disciplined on my 6-week program) and lots of fun, outdoor activities for the girls to enjoy the fresh air.

We were pleasantly surprised with the weather as we got to enjoy beautiful clear, sunshine days and not too much of a chill. The girls spent their days riding bikes, taking long walks, playing bowls, having fun in their awesome kids club (with play area, movies, face painting and balloon making), playing soccer and making new friends.

The best part of this weekend break was the unlimited quality family time. The incredible memories made to last a lifetime. And filling our love tanks.
