Wow.
Easter on lockdown. Did we ever imagine that? Never in a million years.
My heart breaks that we didn’t get to spend Easter with our extended family, all our special friends, our annual Easter egg hunt with our kiddies and their sweet friends hunting through our garden and enjoying the day with family friends, and most of all our beautiful Easter service at our church.
BUT… we did get to spent our Easter weekend together, as a family of five. Uninterrupted, quality time together, loving on each other, hunting for eggs together (thank goodness the Easter bunny wasn’t on lockdown!) and learning about the Easter story and how our Jesus has Risen.
Jesus gave us a very different Lent this year. We didn’t have to give up our usual “habits” like chocolate, social media and spending – but rather we gave up busy, chaos, distraction, and we have had a time together that we have never had, and will probably never have again as a family, as a nation, as a world. A time to be still, to slow down, to lean in and trust in Jesus, only Jesus. A time to remember what is truly important and all that we need.
Him.
A few fun memories from our Easter weekend – our Easter egg hunt, our Easter lunch, our girls Easter baskets and boxes, Easter pjs and lots of yummy chocolate.
Happy Easter everyone, I hope you have been blessed during this lockdown period.
