Last year, our girls all changed their beds as our baby swapped her cot out for a big girl bed. We have a tradition of passing down cots, big girl beds and then beds from daughter to daughter.
When EN was born, she moved into SJ’s cot and SJ got a big girl bed (a 3/4 bed with safety sides).
When ZB was born, she moved into the cot and EN got the big girl bed.We then bought twin beds for SJ’s room as we had the space to allow for sleepovers.
And then last year, when ZB moved into a big girl bed, EN got SJ’s twin beds and SJ got a new double bed. With each of these changes last year, we decided to re-decorate the girls rooms and bathrooms as we needed new linen, new headboards and cushions. And the girls had such fun getting involved and choosing their new colours and designs.
The first of the rooms to get a slight makeover was ZB’s nursery into her big girl room.
I turned to one of our special friends, Kirsty from Lindley & Co Interiors. for help. Kirst has helped us with a few rooms in our home and she really just gets us, the first time. She helps source all our favourite items based on colours and ideas we give to her, and she really helps stick within our budget. One of the greatest ways we saved in ZB’s new room was using the rainbow wall decals rather than a full wallpaper, and re-using old cushion inners, all the furniture from EN’s big girl room, re-spraying old frames a fun new colour and adding a few affordable home-store cushions.
And I just love this fun and joyful room for our little bundle of joy, and our real rainbow baby girl.
