Two years ago, I posted a Facebook status about wanting to start a book club and who was keen to join in… The response was overwhelming. Within seconds, I had comments and messages and likes and a whole list of ladies wanting to join and start a book club. And this is how our special of group of ladies, books and endless glasses of wine was born.
Every first Thursday of the month, 11 of us get together and the hosts house. We each have a month (alphabetically) to host the evening and delicious dinner. We started off contributing money to new books each month but after our first year, we had a big purple box filled to the brim with bug, heavy books so we have decided to now contribute the money to something fun. And this year, we are spoiling ourselves for Christmas – a spa day for us all.
Each book club get together is unique. It is fun and full of laughter and some tears. We gossip, we give advice and we pour our hearts out to each other. We live for this special evening each month, and it keeps us going for the next 30-31 days.
This past month, we all got together to have a fun photo shoot: it was filled with silly moments, pulling faces, some fake laughing and plenty real, belly laughs and lots of fun!
