1. When you were 17, tell us what kind of car you drove, where you worked, and what you were usually up to on the weekends.
When I was 17 I didn’t drive, because in South Africa, the legal driving age is 18. But I was learning at 17, and I was learning in my gran’s Citi Golf and my stepdad’s Toyota Pajero.
I didn’t work because I was still at school but I did the odd promotions on the weekend to earn some extra pocket money.
On the weekends, I was spending all my time with friends. I loved socialising – on the beach, at the mall and going out dancing at night.
2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.
I’m the only blonde – the one in the front with the Roxy top on
3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you “grew up.”
I always wanted to be a teacher.. And I am! I was a goodie-two-shoes at school and a complete teacher’s pet. I loved being neat and tidy (and a complete nerd) and I thought that being a teacher, making worksheets and marking books was cool. And I still do!
4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.
Absolute rubbish. I was young and immature and insecure. Very silly! Being 17 was so much fun, I had a good social life and an awesome group of friends – I wish I had just stayed friends with guys instead of dating. I regret being in a relationship during these years, especially a bad one. But we live and we learn… I only had one relationship then and I don’t think I have a specific type although most of the boys I have liked are blonde!
5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?
I pictured life to be very similar to how it is now. I wanted to be qualified, married to an amazing man and with a little baby. I didn’t know this wonderful man then but I knew that one day he would come along and sweep me off my feet! A lot has happened and changed in the last 10 years but I am so happy and so grateful for where I am today.
Tell us about when you were 17…

Me at 17? I went to visit family friends in Holland and came back to 3rd term at school tired of trying to fit in with the cool group when the big world would accept me for who I was if I stayed true to me.
