Liebster Award

17 October 2012|

One of my special new readers, Laura from Simply Lowcountry has nominated Ellie Love for the Liebster Award.

The Rules:
1. Thank the one who nominated you
2. Write eleven things about yourself
3. Nominate 11 promising bloggers that have less than 200 followers, and tag them in this post
4. Give them eleven questions to answer
5. Don’t tag back

Eleven things about me:

1.
I HATE avocados!!! They are the most disgusting food around. That gross color and slimy texture is enough to make me get sick on the spot! And do not bring them anywhere near me, I won’t even touch one!

2.
My favorite season is Summer – I love everything about it – the boiling hot sun, the crashing waves of the sea, the sand in between my toes, the coconut smell of suntan lotion, ice cold drinks or ice cream and always being outdoors.

3.
I believe in love at first sight. I haven’t always until the night I met MC. Wow, he literally took my breath away and left me speechless! I knew that night that I would marry him one day… and I did!

4.
I am convinced that I was born to be a mom. I’ve always said that (even way before I had kids!) There is no job in the world like it or as rewarding or loving. I would do absolutely anything for our sweet baby girl (and her unconceived siblings)

5.
I am a qualified primary school teacher but as I qualified, I fell pregnant so I haven’t actually taught full time. I am enjoying a few days of locum teaching though, and it’s great!

6.
I have a bikini addiction. Most girls have a bag or shoe fetish, mine is the tiny pieces of material we wear on the beach. I love different styles and fabrics (the brighter, the better!) I would not be lying if I said I own about 40 bikinis…

7.
I HATE reality TV! Yes, I know I am the minority here but it is so terrible. Such a waste of precious time! The likes of the Kardashians, Snooki, Real Housewives and any teen moms drive me crazy (although I have to admit, they make me feel good about my life because theirs are so messed up!)

8.
I love party planning. I was in Advertising and Events for 2 years and it sparked a little party-planning-fire inside me. I love putting ideas together, planning and DIY’ing and then watching it all come together on the day. Saying this, I would never make this my job again (terrible hours, aggressive clients and unrealistic budgets are not my idea of fun!)

9.
I hate running. Don’t get me wrong, I love exercise and playing sport but don’t ask me to run. It is the most mundane and boring workout ever (and I suck at cardio!) And now my poor hubs wants me to run a half marathon (21km!!!!) with him in April 2013. Really??

10.
I have a thing for cars. Weird for a girl, I know! (Even MC doesn’t really get this) but I just love sleek and slender and elegant cars. Maybe it’s because I spend quite a bit of time in my car running very mundane errands (and a nice car makes these tedious tasks more exciting?) My favorites are my very own Audi Q5, my next upgrade the Porsche Cayenne (haha, I wish!) and my final upgrade to a Range Rover (another wish!) And my dream car to play in is a Lamborghini.

11.
I am an English major and ANY spelling or grammatical errors are unacceptable (unless genuine typo errors!) This goes for shortened, slang text language too. C u l8r???? Are you kidding?? No ways!!
(in saying this, please feel free to let me know if you find any typo’s on my blog – especially in long posts like this one!)

And now to answer Laura’s questions:

What is your fondest memory?
My fondest memory is the evening MC dropped down on to one knee and proposed. After 3 years of long distance dating, my heart was struggling. I hated being away from the love of my life but I knew I could do nothing to change our situation. MC was due to fly home to me on the Monday and all weekend, I was in tears because I had missed him so much (and every day was getting harder and harder!) I had to work all of the Monday and I was counting down the hours to 5pm and I raced home (as best I could in traffic!) I was greeted with his gorgeous smile and open arms and whisked into a home filled with flowers and candles (yes, I have no idea how I didn’t guess although I am so glad I didn’t!) After a sweet dinner for two, MC offered me dessert (normal to most but weird for us as MC doesn’t eat dessert!) but again I thought it was just a romantic gesture. I closed my eyes for this homemade dessert and I opened them to a shaking MC down on one knee and my ring on a dessert plate… Speechless. Tears. Pure joy. Warm, fuzzy heart.

If you could live anywhere, where would that be?

I would live in our new house (that is currently being built) in our new estate here in Durban, South Africa. I am born and bred in Durban and I just love it! I love the free lifestyle, the warm weather and the familiarity of all my special friends and family and favourite places.
What’s your favorite type of food?
I don’t have just one. I love many different foods. One of my favourites is potatoes (in any form – baked, mashed, fried, roasted). I also like chill or anything peri peri (pasta, chicken, pizza) and I have a sweet tooth too (chocolate, cake, macaroons, ice cream)

What is your favorite season, and why?
I already answered this one up above. Definitely Summer (see reasons above)

What is your favorite theme park (Disney, Universal, MGM)?
I have only been to Disney and Universal in Florida and I loved both. Disney has a more traditional feel with cute rides and sweet littles stores and restaurants but the rides at Universal are definitely better.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Around the World.
I know, not very specific or original but there are just too many places that I want to visit! I would love to tour many places in America (LA, Vegas, Texas, San Diego, Chicago and NYC again). Europe is number one on my list at the moment (Greece, Spain, Italy, Croatia, France). I would love to explore the East too (Bangkok, Thailand, India, China). And Australia one day too.

If you could go on a date with one celebrity who would it be?
Hmmm, this is a tough one! I am not a huge celebrity person and I absolutely adore my MC more than any celeb around. But from an interest point of view, I would probably say Nelson Mandela, Richard Branson or The Queen of England – these people interest me and there is a lot I would want to ask them or hear from them.

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging to have fun, and then I started taking it too seriously so I stopped for a few months. But I missed it, so much! I missed being able to express myself, interact with others and the sweet girls that I have become online friends with. And now thats why I do it – to express myself and a small creative outlet and to interact with special bloggers from around the world!

What is your current job?
I am a very proud stay-at-home mom. My favorite job in the world. It is hard work but I love it and I hope to be able to be in this job forever (when more kiddies come along) The thought of making lunches, going on outings, doing the lift run, going to extra activities and helping with homework is my ideal. I love it all!

What is your favorite book?
I am a sucker for romance novels so anything from Nicholas Sparks. I also love the work and real life situations and feelings from Jodi Picoult. And a great fun loving book in South Africa is Spud by John van der Ruit (the last one has just come out and I am loving it!)

What is your favorite movie?
My two ultimate favorites are Dirty Dancing (what a classic!) and A Walk to Remember with Mandy Moore. I don’t like watching movies more than once but I could sit and watch those two for days!!

Well, now that you know absolutely everything about me!
Almost everyone of my favorite bloggers have many followers… (more than 200!)

Stephanie from BEAUtiful Mess
